Last year, the barBAYq drew over 10,000 people and raised over $75,000 for grants to various charities in our community focusing on bettering the lives of our children.
This year's 5th annual event will be open to the public from 11:00AM to 9:00PM on Saturday, May 2, and from noon to 6:00PM on Sunday, May 3. Over 40 bands will be performing on three stages Saturday and Sunday. Free Kiddie Korral for children will provide hours of entertainment for families. Patrons also will have opportunities to enjoy cooking demonstrations and to taste competition barbeque at the People’s Choice competition (Saturday afternoon only). An outstanding variety of food is available for purchase, including good variety of championship barbeque.
The contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) and will attract over 60 competitor teams. The teams begin arriving on Thursday and by Friday evening are set up and cooking. Food submission to the judges begins late Saturday morning and awards are made Saturday afternoon.
Please plan to join us for a fun, family event. Where else can you spend hours with your family and friends with good food, entertainment, and all while helping to raise money for our children.
Unable to attend? If you're one of those that just can't make it to the Fairgrounds for the Naptown barBAYq due for some other (obviously less fun) event, please consider making a donation as a show of support. We're DOING IT FOR THE KIDS! - we welcome your tax-deductible contribution.
Checks can be made payable to "Parole Rotary Foundation" and sent to:
