No Better Way To Kick Off The Summer Than With A Barbayq!

Friday, May 6th 4pm-10pm
Saturday, May 7th Noon-10pm
Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds

The Naptown barBAYq Contest and Music Festival is held each May at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville, MD. Thousands of Festival go-ers from the Mid-Atlantic come out to enjoy live music, great food and a KCBS sanctioned barbeque competition. It is a family affair with live music, FREE kids' activities in the Kid Korral (kids 12 & under admitted free), arts and crafts vendors and cooking demonstrations.

A Note from Our Festival Director, Henry Riser

Welcome to our new website. And by the way, it’s not the only thing that is new this year. After 5 years of doing pretty much the same thing, the Parole Annapolis Rotary decided to mix things up a little at the Festival! It’s a whole new BarBAYq this year.

The Festival is now FRIDAY May 6th and SATURDAY May 7th, 2016 (not Saturday and Sunday!)

NEW THIS YEAR – we have moved the KCBS Competitors into the Festival and created the barBAYq Village. This will give festival-goers the chance to walk through and meet the competitors, but don’t expect them to give you their secret recipe! It will be open on Friday night and all day Saturday.

On Friday, we are bringing the party to the Fairgrounds, opening the gates at 4:00pm with a Happy Hour - half price beer from 4-7pm, and a Peoples’ Choice Wing Competition in the barBAYq village. You will be able to taste as many entries as you wish and vote for your favorite one! Music kicks off with 9 Mile Roots and WEIRD SCIENCE will take the stage at 7pm. The arts n crafts vendors will be open and of course, plenty of great food from our select food vendors, and, of course, beer and other beverages from our partners in the event.

The folks at the barBAYq have partnered this year with Union Jack’s in Annapolis. If you attend our festival (Friday or Saturday) and are wearing a barBAyq wristbands, head over to Union Jack’s after you leave the Festival and they will waive their cover charge.

Saturday gates open at Noon, kids 12 and under are free and once again can enjoy our Kid Korral with FREE activities. Live music on two stages all day, and at 6pm Marshall Law will take the stage for the evening concert.

The barBAYq Village will be buzzing as the teams make their final preparations for the KCBS sanctioned bbq contest. Be sure to check out the Peoples’ Choice Pulled Pork Competition on Saturday starting at 2pm this year. It’s a great way to sample the teams BBQ and vote for your favorite one.

So check out our new website, see all that has changed from last year, check out our sponsors, and buy your tickets early this year. We are working hard to provide you a great family festival!!

And remember, all the proceeds from the 6th annual barbayq Contest & Music Festival will be donated to local children’s charities.

The Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club is the proud host of the 2016 Naptown barBAYq Contest & Music Festival.

The Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club is comprised of approximately 80 members, who enthusiastically share and demonstrate the Rotary philosophy.

The Mission:

To significantly improve lives in our local community and around the world by meeting real needs.

The Vision:

"We will make a positive difference for youth today, so they will make a difference tomorrow."

Rotary’s guiding principle is Service Above Self. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues---children at risk, health & hunger, water and literacy.

The Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club supports programs for youth; educational opportunities and international exchanges for students and professionals; and vocational and career development and much more.

Our Club's signature project is the Books for International Goodwill, Inc. which takes used books for shipment to needy schools and libraries, and since 1995, has saved books from the landfill and shipped over 5 million books to help spread literacy throughout the world.

Rotary International is a worldwide network of inspired individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes to change lives in communities. Made up of over 34,000 Rotary clubs around the world, Rotary International forms a global network of business, professional, and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve communities locally and around the world – and form strong, lasting friendships in the process.

Rotary's motto, Service Above Self, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. Please visit

The Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club meets every Tuesday mornings at 7:30am at the Double Tree Hotel, 210 Holiday Ct, Annapolis, MD 21401.

The Rotary Club of Parole (Annapolis) and the Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club Foundation are dedicated to serving the community. Each year, the proceeds from the Naptown barBAYq Contest & Music Festival are donated to local area, youth oriented non-profit organizations.
