KCBS Sanctioned State Championship
BBQ Competition

Passionate about Pork?  Braggin' on your Brisket? Then we invite you to join us and compete in the Naptown BarBAYq & Music Festival. Last year, 48 competitors traveled to Annapolis, Maryland to vie for trophies, bragging rights and $9,000 in prizes.

Friday People's Choice Contest
Teams can compete in the People's Choice Contest on Friday evening.  Competitors will prepare 2 lbs of fresh seafood (included in entry fee) and submit their creations for the People's Choice judging. To qualify for trophy and cash prizes, contestant must compete in BOTH Smoked Seafood and Chef's Choice categories. Best combined scores from both categories win cash awards!

Saturday KCBS Contest (List of 2012 competitors) 
On Saturday teams will compete in four Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned categories--Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket.  Prizes will be awarded for the  top ten places in each category

 

 Prizes
• Grand Champion/Maryland State Champion: $1000 & Trophy
   & Framed Governor's Proclamation
• Reserve Grand Champion: $500 & Trophy



In Each KCBS Category (Chicken, Ribs, Pork, Brisket)
• 1st Place:   $500 and Trophy
• 2nd Place:  $400 and Trophy
• 3rd Place:   $300 and Trophy
• 4th Place:   $200 and Trophy
• 5th Place:   $100 and Trophy
• 6th-10th Place:  Ribbon

 

Saturday Turn-in times
• 12:00 noon - Chicken
• 12:30pm - Ribs
• 1:00pm - Pork
• 1:30pm - Brisket

Saturday People's Choice Contest
Immediately following the KCBS category turn-ins, our final competition will be our People's Choice Pulled Pork Contest judged by festival visitors in the VIP building.

AWARDS CEREMONY AT 4pm on the Valley Stage

• $300 for 25' x 25' space
• $350 for 25' x 50' space
